James R. Johnston
April 18, 1935 ~ April 22, 2026
James R. Johnston, age 91, of Forest Lake, formerly of Sarasota, Florida, passed away April 22, 2026 at home.
He was born to Arthur Lusk and Anna Mary Fredrikke (Paulson) Johnston, the youngest of six children. He served in the United States Army in Korea. After discharge, Jim attended the University of Minnesota and became an insurance agent and auditor for 25 years in Sarasota, Florida until his retirement from Auto Owners Insurance in 2000.
Predeceased by wife, Roberta; parents, and all his siblings. He is survived by daughter, Deborah (Steve) Pfister; son, Mark (Beth) Johnston; three grandchildren, James (Amy), Liam, and Annie; step-grandson, Whalen; six great-grandchildren; and his dog, Mindy.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be at 12 PM Saturday, July 11th at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. Further details will be announced by the family. Memorials to Hospice of the Midwest or a charity of your choice.
