Violet was born on August 28, 1928 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 13, 2024 at the age of 96.
Preceded in death by parents, Dominic and Anna Barilla; husband, Robert E. O’Gary; sons, Robert, Michael, Patrick and Timothy; brothers, Fred, Anthony, and Dominic; sisters, Susan Sanchelli, Carmella Mancini, Jennie Mechtel, Dora Dalto, Josephine Falbo, Mary Ann Moore, and Palmina. Survived by son, James (Giovanna); daughter-in-law, Eve O’Gary; grandchildren, Ronald, Shawn (Jennifer), Charlene Zeug (Clint), Ryan (Tanya), Eric (Laura); great-grandchildren, Brianna, Hailee, Caitlin, Connor, Cole, Dylan, Isabella, Tyler, Ely; great-great-grandson, Owen; many nephews and nieces.
Violet was the last of the 2nd generation Barilla’s of Swede Hollow. She loved receiving pictures of her grandchildren which was evident by the hundreds of photos displayed throughout her home. Violet enjoyed cooking and baking and sharing her baked goods with neighbors. She especially enjoyed making pizzelles, nut slices and Easter pizza for the holidays. Watching the cooking shows on TV was also something she looked forward to. Violet will be very missed.
Memorial service 12 PM Saturday, September 28th with a visitation beginning at 11 AM at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. Luncheon to follow. A special thank you to Ecumen Long Term Care and Ecumen Hospice of North Branch for their care and support.
