Steve S. Wysocki

Born in Chicago, Illinois on September 16, 1923, passed on June 12, 2007. Steve enlisted in the Army Air Corps in June of 1942 and was sent to San Antonio, TX for flight training. One of his favorite things to do was to fly T-6s just above tree top height. After passing flight training, he became a test pilot and was sent to the Pacific theater during World War II. While stationed in India, he was checked out in 25 different types of aircraft. His favorite aircraft was the P-51 Mustang. Towards the end of the war, he spent time flying the hump. Steve achieved the rank of Captain. In 1946, Steve retired from the AAC. In June of 1949, Steve married Lillian S. Kalinski and settled in the southern suburbs of Chicago. Together they raised three sons, David, Dale and Daren. The three sons are proud to have had Steve as their father and best friend. In 1962, Steve accepted a position with 3M Company. In 1963, the family moved to Minnesota. Minnesota offered many new experiences for the family. Many family camping trips were taken in the state. Fall camping trips to the upper St. Croix River Valley brought Steve a great deal of happiness. He also derived happiness from the many pet dogs that the family had, and the pets enjoyed him. Every pet had their place by his side at the dinner table. Residing in Scandia during his retirement, he had the time to enjoy just how green everything is. The serenity of country life agreed with Steve. Special thanks to Dr. John Eikens of Fairview Lakes Health Services; Bev Warnke and Gretchen Kirvida of the Fairview Lakes HomeCaring Hospice for making Steve comfortable during his final days. There will be no visitation; a private interment will take place at a later date.
