Shawn E. Young

Age 52, of Anoka, passed away on April 27, 2026, surrounded by family and friends. He was born July 5, 1973, in Fridley, MN, to Donald and Nancy (Whirley) Young.

Shawn grew up in Anoka and graduated with the Anoka High School Class of 1992. Throughout his life, he explored many paths, including long‑haul truck driving, raising his daughters, and countless other pursuits that reflected his curiosity and independence.

Shawn loved adventure—riding his Harley, going to garage sales, traveling, and especially spending time with his girls. He found peace in nature and enjoyed hiking, bonfires, swimming, fishing, and riding bikes of every kind.

Though he didn’t always follow a traditional path, Shawn filled his life with people who felt his love in every circumstance. His bright smile, infectious laugh, and the memories he created will be cherished by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Shawn is survived by his parents, Nancy and Donald Young of Ramsey, MN; his daughters Savannah (Ashtyn) Sundeen, Sydney (Eli) Young, and Skyler Young, all of Ramsey, MN; their mother, Missy, who shared in raising and loving their girls; his sister Angie (Kim) Young‑Jacobson of Forest Lake, MN; as well as nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and friends.

In honor of Shawn’s spirit, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 1–4 PM at the Anoka Legion (Edward B. Cutter Post 102).
