Scott D. Parks

October 18, 1956 ~ October 19, 2015
Scott Parks of Wyoming, Minnesota passed away at his home at the age of 59. Scott courageously fought a long, hard battle with depression which ended peacefully on October 19, 2015. Scott was born in Minneapolis. He attended Roosevelt High School and graduated in 1975. Scott honorably served as a police officer for over 32 years. He was excellent in his profession, and made a very positive impact on his community. He was also an enthusiastic member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, as well as the Dodge Challenger Club. As an avid outdoorsman Scott loved fishing, camping, snowmobiling, boating, scuba diving, hunting and traveling. He was a guy who would do anything for anybody. If you needed help you could count on Scott to help get it done. I can do that was a common response from Scott in a time of need, and often times, we couldnt have done it without him. Making people laugh was one of Scotts greatest gifts. He had the unique ability to put anyone at ease and put a huge smile on their faces. His laughter was joyful and contagious, and this displayed his great warmth and caring towards others. Scott loved people, and he was loved in return by so many. His dogs, Chance and Autumn, were two of Scotts greatest treasures. Always by his side, they shared an incredibly loving and unbreakable bond. They were his pride and his joy, and always gave him unconditional love, companionship, and support. Scott was an important member of his family and will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his wife, Theresa Parks, mother, Jan Burnette, father and stepmother James and Robin Parks, sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Joe Richter, nephew and nieces, Jack, Ellie, and Leah Richter, Uncle and Aunt, Keith and Theresa Nelson, cousins, Chad and Kale Nelson, as well as countless friends, and of course his loyal and loving canine companions. Scott is preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy Nelson, Florence Nelson, Doris Parks, Lloyd Parks, and his step father, Howard Burnette. Scott will always be remembered for his huge heart and loving spirit. Scott showed great courage during difficult times, and even though he succumbed to the disease of depression, we know he is at rest and at peace. The Lord and his family hold him close, and please hold him close as we do, in your mind and in your spirit. Remember the meaning of this tragedy. Let us find and encourage within ourselves, each other, and our society, those gifts that make each of us special: not power, not wealth, not intellect, but the extraordinary beauty of the simple human heart. A Celebration of Scotts life 3 PM Sunday, October 25th at Roberts Family Life Celebration Home, 555 SW Centennial Dr., Forest Lake, with visitation beginning at 1 PM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to B.A.R.K. (Being Advocates for Rescued K-9s) or The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior (Isaiah 43:1-3).
You were such a great and dedicated police officer and loved your job. You were definitely cut for this vocation. All of your friends have comments to me of your love of your job and your friends in blue. Rest in peace my love. You left us too early. You have many friends who are heartbroken and miss you. I love you dearly. Mom
Yes Mark…I am Scott’s mom. Thank you so much for this beautiful note. You were God’s angel that was there for a reason. Bless you and your family. It was a GOD MOMENT. Thank you! Jan
Scott: I believe I met your Mother at the Holiday Gas Station in Wayzata, MN yesterday (11-1-15) when she asked for some help getting fuel into her car she was using. It was so special talking with her and helping her get the gas into her car. She really opened up to me about you and explained how sad she was with your passing. She truly seemed like a wonderful lady and we trust her heart heals in time of this tragedy in her life. She even called me Gods Angel that helped her. It was nice listening to her and sharing some life experiences with her. (I trust this is your mother who I met and helped yesterday) May God Bless your family and especially your sweet Mother.
Although we didn’t know you, you were the only one who stopped your vehicle, got out, proudly stood by your car and saluted back at the young sea cadets at the cruise for troops last month. It’s moments like those that stick in your memory. That momentary act of courtesy given to the Polaris Battalion Sea Cadets that day will forever be remembered and forever paused in time in the photo we captured. Thank you for being an upstanding human being.
Dearest Scott. Your were the light of my life and I miss you so. I loved you from the moment you were born and will love you in my heart forever. Your smile and laughter will be deeply missed. My heart is broken and will always have a huge hole in it. May God’s arms be around you right now and know that I will see you when it is my time to join you. All of my love, Dad
I am very saddened to hear of Scott’s passing. I worked at Blue Sky Animal Hospital for years and I know what a special relationship he had with Chance and Autumn and Theresa. He loved them all deeply, it was obvious. This breaks my heart for all of you left behind to grieve. I will pray for all of you.
Our hearts are broken and our thoughts and prayers are with our dear friend Jan and her family. Scott was a joy to be around and I know that he touched many lives. Rest in peace sweet Scott.

I met you for the first time after you joined the MnChallengers club at the meet in Bloomington with the Car Queenz. You couldn’t wait until I got their so you weren’t the only domestic! Those imports were giving you the stink eye lol. We talked and laughed and had a great time, and every time I talked to you on facebook or at a car event it was nothing but laughter, sarcasm, and a little pervyness, haha. You were a blast to hang out with, and you will be missed very much!
First and foremost I would like to express my deepest condolences to Scotts wife Theresa, his family and friends. I met Scott in July 2015 at Street Machine Nationals car show. He had just purchased his Challenger and joined MnChallengers Car Club. We met at several events over the last couple of months with the lasted being Cruise for Troops on September 26th, 2015. We had a fantastic time and laughed so much about everything. Scott was quite the character. He had a fabulous laugh. May he Rest in Peace at this time.
Scott and I had become friend’s in August 2015, through our common interest of MnChallenger’s Car Club; this led to a friendship online with FB, the daily posts and comments we gave each other will be missed- as will he. May fond memories of Scott bring his family and friends, comfort during this hard time. Look back on all the good memories you/we were able to have and smile at the fact that these were shared with Scott. Godspeed.
My grief is beyond consolation and words cannot express the sadness in my heart. My sweet boy, my son. I know you are in the loving arms of Jesus.
My heart is broken. I have cried for others that I have loved and lost, but none more than you. We will meet again in heaven, and I look forward to that time we are together again.
Our hearts are broken at the loss of our beloved son, brother, and uncle. Words cannot describe the grief and sorrow we are experiencing. We can only trust in the Lord to help us through this terrible time. Scott was wonderful man with the biggest heart who gave so much to this world. He will be missed more than we can express.
Scott was a brother in arms in the Law Enforcement Community and a member of our Blue Knights Chapter. Besides this Scott was a good friend of mine and I will miss him greatly. Rest in Peace and Ride With Pride.
