Uncle Bob fought a good fight, he never gave up. Bob never gave up on anything, from his family to his job and his beliefs. He took care of his wife (my Aunt) through everything, in sickness and in health. When he was young he fought hard to get his job at then, NSP, now Excel Energy, he didn’t quit trying until he got that job, I remember that quite clearly. He was badly hurt once on the job but was never afraid to go back, a lot of people couldn’t have done that. It is never easy nor is it ever really understood why someone has to leave this Earth and go on to heaven. What we all have to remember is that he is in a better place and I am sure he is now making room for his loved ones to follow. If you ask his wife I am sure there are mountains of happy memories left behind for everyone to enjoy. I don’t believe that anyone is truly gone, there soul stays within your heart and you hold onto that until you see that person again. Bob & Rae are Godparents to my daughter, an Uncle to me, a loving husband to his wife and a very good friend to many. My prayers go out to my Aunt Rae that she may find peace and enough to go forward until she is re-united with Bob. Bob had a good sense of humor, loved fishing, going on trips and mostly helping his relatives out whenever they were in need. We shared a love of cars, drag racing and had many close conversations, Bob was very smart. Bob built a good life for his family and like I said worked very, very hard for himself, family and friends. Bob’s passing came much too soon and it’s God’s will, his work here on Earth is done and now I am sure he is living a peaceful life looking down on those he loves and reuniting with those who went before him. I have many good memories and that is what I will look back on. Well Bob I really believe that when you got to Heaven that Challenger was there waiting for you, enjoy the ride. I am sorry for all that you had to go through. Your’s and Rae’s is a true love story that death will not end. Sadly the last time I saw him was at my Aunts funeral, we talked for two hours, laughed, joked and I got to tell him how I felt, I loved his sense of humor which he had even in the toughest moments. Peace & Love to you Bob, so glad that you came along. I will think of you often.
On behalf of the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225, we give thanks for Robert’s military service to our nation.
