Peter J. Johnston

Age 69 of Marine on the St. Croix, Minnesota, passed away on Monday March 2, 2009. He was born on September 24, 1939 in Cornell, WI, son of the late Clelland and Agnes (Schmitz) Johnston. Peter graduated from Cornell High School in 1957 and served in the Army Reserve. Prior to his retirement he was President and CEO of Universal Applicators Inc. of Forest Lake, MN. On September 11, 1965 he married the former Eleanore Lahti of Ironwood, MI. He is survived by his wife, Eleanore; brother, Robert of Alabama/Wisconsin; sisters, Barbara (Robert) Avery of Woodbury, MN, Susan (Peter) Lemay of Cornell, WI, Jane Johnston of Woodbury, MN. Besides his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his brother, George; sister, Pauline; brother-in-law, Lanny Jiskra; sister-in-law, Lucy Johnston. He was much beloved Uncle Pete to numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. An avid fisherman and die hard Packer Backer, he will be missed by many other relatives and dear friends. Memorial Service will be 2 PM Monday March 9, 2009 at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Drive SW, Forest Lake, MN, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Ironwood, Michigan at a later time. Memorials preferred to Salvation Army, Union Gospel Mission or donors choice.
