Marianne L. Sager

July 20, 1938 ~ October 14, 2014
Marianne Sager, 76, passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2014 at United Hospital, peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She is preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Winifred (Drobinski) Bjorklund. She is survived by the love of her life Tom Sager, children Tom (Angela) Sager of Owatonna, Lynn Sager of St. Paul, Cathy Sager of Minneapolis, Angela Walker (Paul Jacobs) of Shoreview, Steven Bert Sager of Eagan, seven grandchildren: Margaret, Jackson, Frank, Anne, Mary, Henry, and Catherine; sister Rita (Kenneth) Lampert of White Bear Lake, nieces Marilee Sager (Christopher) of White Bear lake and Sarah Christopherson of St. Paul. Marianne was born on June 20, 1938 and was baptized at St. Bernards Catholic Church where she attended grade school. She graduated from Washington High School in 1956. Marianne was everyones friend and had kind words and a beautiful smile for everybody she met. She married her high school sweetheart, Tom Sager, on June 25, 1960 at St. Bernards Church and together they raised five children, who were her pride and joy. Marianne was the cornerstone of her family, dedicating her life to her husband and children. During the early years of their marriage, Marianne worked at home, being a loving, supportive, and as needed, directing wife and mother. During these years, she enjoyed attending her familys school and sporting events, and once her children became a little older, she began to work outside the home and spent the next several years working in the mortgage and credit reporting business, then becoming a pharmacy technician. She liked this work, and made many good friends and received many accolades because of her outgoing and kind personality, and proficient work skills. In 1995, Marianne and Tom moved to Shell Lake, WI with 3M and lived there for 8 years. During this time, she worked as a pharmacy technician and enjoyed this work immensely because of being able to help other people. Her favorite part of this job may have been wearing her Vikings sweatshirts to work and poking fun at all her Packer friends. Marianne and Tom retired in 2001, and wanting to live closer to her growing family, returned to the Twin Cities and resided in Forest Lake. In retirement, her passion for Twins baseball grew and she never missed watching a game...and was always quick to tell the manager what he should be doing. Marianne and Tom spent many driving trips to Florida for Twins Spring Training. She also enjoyed the musical shows in Branson, MO, trips to the North Shore, and attending her grandchildrens activities. Marianne was a prayerful and devout women who was constantly thinking of others and praying for their needs. She had a special relationship with Christ, first, and also St. Jude and Mary, among many other saints. During her final days, she experienced great physical discomfort. But true to her lifelong character, remained faithful, never complained, asked others about their lives, and was always grateful for her loved ones and the people helping her. A special thank you to the professional staff at United Hospital for their care, kindness and compassion. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Church of St. Genevieve, 7087 Goiffon Road, Centerville, MN at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 21st with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM until time of mass. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the family.
Sorry to have heard of her passing, she was a bright, cheerful woman, whom I had the pleasure of working with at the St Paul Credit Bureau. She will be missed. I’d thought of her over the passing years; wished I could have been in contact with her previously. Blessings to the family, knowing they had a very dear soul in their midst all these years! I am glad I was her friend for the time we worked together.
My grandma was a great and beautiful woman, and i miss her vary much. My favorite memory of her was when Grandpa (Tom), Grandma, Henry (my brother), and I went up to Lake Superior and the cities and towns on the lake. It was fun. I love you grandma.
I’m so terribly sorry for your loss. Death is something that humans were never meant to experience, the pain that we experience when we lose a loved one is something that is simply unnatural. Psalms 37:29 says 29 “The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it.” God’s original purpose for humankind was to live forever in a paradise earth with no sickness or death. An “abundance of peace” as psalms 37:10 brings out. Though the world we love in is horrible and we experience pain on a daily basis there is some good news, the bible promises something truly amazing at revelation 21:4 it says “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” So death, sickness, pain and every kind of sorrow will be wiped out but what about those who have already died? John 5:28,29 says of those ones “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.” So these ones will be resurrected to an earth filled with peace. We had the honor of meeting Marianne several times at her son Tom and Angela’s house in Owatonna. What a gracious and holy woman! Her children are a beautiful testament to the kind of person she was and the obvious and loving bond between she and her husband Tom was an inspiration.
Our deepest condolences to her entire family and be assured of our regular prayers for the happy and serene repose of her soul.
