June Helen (Johnson) Peck

June 10, 1943 ~ June 12, 2026

Born premature weighing 4 pounds on June 10, 1943 in Minneapolis, MN to Melvin and Louise (Stadt) Johnson.

Died peacefully on June 12, 2026 just 8 weeks after her beloved husband John.

John and June, the loves of each other’s lives, were married on June 11, 1965. June always said they were going to go to heaven together and she was just a little late to celebrate their 61st anniversary.

June was a dedicated and loving mother to 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

June is preceded in death by her husband John, daughter Julie, parents Melvin and Louise Johnson, and sister Linda Johnson. She is also survived by her dear sisters Ann (Dave) Wollman and Grace (Terry) Bowers.

June, named after the month of her early birth, embodied the symbolism of summer: warmth, passion, and joy. Somewhat poetically, her birth, wedding anniversary, and date of death took place on three consecutive June days.

In her younger years, she attended Lutheran Bible Institute where she toured with a vocal quartet called The Psalmettes, worked as a nurse’s aide at Augustana Nursing Home, and met her future husband while working as a waitress at a diner in Vadnais Heights, MN. When the two of them married, they followed the call of Jesus, serving in ministry to Him. They served in Martinsville, Indiana for two years before moving to Zion Harbor Bible Camp in Federal Dam, MN. Here they served for nearly seven more years while raising their five children and leading/mentoring the campers who visited.

They eventually followed the Lord’s call to settle down in White Bear Lake, MN. During this time, June was a loving, humorous, and joyful wife, mother, and homemaker. She was perhaps most fulfilled in her role as “Nana” to her grandchildren. No matter the circumstances, there was always a smile on her face and joy in her eyes when they were in her care. Her door was always open and her refrigerator always full for any family member at any time. She nurtured with humor and care, encouraging, caring for, and loving deeply.

She loved to play piano. She would make her own arrangements of songs she heard in church, rarely ever using sheet music. Playing by ear was second nature to her.

June’s sense of humor shined through four rounds of cancer, interstitial lung disease, and cardiac disease. She was an anchor to all who sat by her side.

Her “nana-isms” will live on in Peck family lore. She will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Redeeming Love Church, 2425 White Bear Ave. in Maplewood, MN, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
