Date of Birth: January 1, 1920 Date of Death: May 28, 2010 Harold Raymond Smith, age 90 formerly of Nisswa, Minnesota, passed away May 28, 2010. Born January 1, 1920 in Fredericksberg, IA, Harold was the son of Carl and Nellie (Hunt) Smith. He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Merle; first wife, June in 1987 and cousin, Joyce Miller. Harold will be deeply missed by his second wife, Leona Onie; stepchildren, Donna (Dale) Schultz, Douglas (Carolyn) Wilske, Susie (Dale) Karoff and Rocky (Yvonne) Wilske; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; puppy, Angel; nephews, Steve (Donna) Smith and Dale (Marcie) Smith; many cousins, especially Darrell, Beverly and Dean Miller. Harold was a WWII Coast Guard Veteran entering active duty on January 6, 1942 and was discharged on January 15, 1947. He became a lifetime member of American Legion Post #49. Following his military service, Harold attended Dunwoody Institute, becoming a carpenter for Star Company and Krause Anderson Construction where he was a supervisor for both companies. He retired in 1978. On July 7, 1989, he married Onie Wilske. He joined the Catholic faith at this time and has become a good friend of Father Paul Fruth. In 1999, Harold and Onie moved to Nisswa and recently moved to Wyoming, MN to be close to family. Mass of Christian Burial and Family Interment Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father George Zeck and Father Paul Fruth at10:30 AM, Monday, June 28th in St. Alice Catholic Church, Pequot Lakes, MN. Family interment will be at Lewis Cemetery in Maple Plain, MN where Harold will be laid to rest with his parents.
