Gary Oelkers

Age 70, of White Bear Township, MN died June 16, 2008 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL. He was born April 27, 1938 in Wabasha, MN. Gary was a proud US Air Force Veteran. Working as a State Farm Agent for more than 20 years, he retired in 1999. Upon retirement, Gary and Jean made their home in Bella Vista, Arkansas, and later moved back to Minnesota. Gary is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean (Rau) Oelkers, son Jeffrey (Denise) Oelkers, Rockford, IL; daughter Kimberly (David) Bakkestuen, Forest Lake; and daughter Shannon (Ted) Bents, Osceola, WI. Grandchildren David, Jonathan, Rachel and Jacob Oelkers; Claire, Paige, Jordan and Lilah Bakkestuen; Jason, Brooke and Jenna Bents. Sister Kari Goodman, Minnetonka and brother Harold (Clarice) Oelkers, Pine Island. He was preceded in death by his parents Ore and Johanna Oelkers, granddaughter Anna Bakkestuen and nephew Russell Goodman. A Celebration of Garys Life will be held at 12 Noon Friday, June 20th at Eagle Brook Church-White Bear Lake Campus, 2401 E Buffalo St, White Bear Lake with a Gathering Of Friends beginning at 11 AM until the time of service.
