Dorothy L. Whitney

October 5, 1921 ~ April 1, 2013
Dorothy L. Whitney, age 91 of Forest Lake died April 1, 2013. Dorothy retired from Honeywell in 1988; enjoyed playing cribbage; participated in many bowling leagues; and enjoyed family canoeing trips where a highlight was gathering wild blueberries. Preceded in death by husband, Phillip B. Whitney; sisters, Evelyn Reinhart and Cleonora Lang. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Marna Whitney; grandchildren, Brian Whitney, Carl Whitney, and Jennifer Whitney; and brother, Donald Kosek. A celebration of life of Dorothys life will be 2 PM Saturday, April 6th at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Dr. SW, Forest Lake with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 1 PM.
My favorite memory of Auntie Dotie includes all of the Kosek sisters sitting around the dinning room table at Grandma Evie’s house in New Ulm talking about “the old days.” I really miss hanging out in Grandma’s kitchen, listening to them all talk and show us all what being a family should look like. I imagine Grandma Evie, Auntie Cleo, Uncle Pete, and Uncle Phil all welcoming Dorothy in to Heaven and sitting down at a 50’s style dinning room table to catch up on the years… and maybe play a round of cribbage or two.
