David Leslie McKenzie, 54, of Hot Springs, Arkansas and formerly of Forest Lake, Minnesota passed away peacefully on May 5, 2011 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born June 18, 1956 in Polk County, Wisconsin and grew-up in and around the Minnesota area before moving to California where he enjoyed work as a talented finish carpenter. He also enjoyed flipping houses and co-owned and operated a successful specialized escrow closing company. David was happiest when he was on the water whether it was fishing with Butch and Schnitzel his miniature Dachshunds, boating or riding his jet ski. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. David was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Ann McLean McKenzie. Survivors include his loving wife, Jann Stricklin-McKenzie of Hot Springs; daughters, Katie McDowell and husband, Glenn and Melissa McKeever and husband, Ryan; father, Lyle McKenzie and special friend, Judy Anaya; brother, Raymond McKenzie and wife, Laura, and sisters, Janet Polta and husband, Rick, Cathy Priestley and husband, Joe and Linda McKenzie all of Minnesota; bonus daughter, Jennifer Goodner and husband, Jason of Mena; three grandchildren and three bonus grandchildren plus numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A celebration of Davids life will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 11:30 AM in Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Drive SW, Forest Lake, MN with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 10 AM until the time of the service.
