Carol B. Seefeldt

Age 86 of Scandia & Stillwater. Passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 12, 2026.

Preceded in death, husband of 63 years, Dennis; son-in-law, Ed Bieging; parents, Wilbert & Pauline Busch; brother, Ralph Busch and his wife, Carol; brothers-in-law, Dick Menozzi, John Seefeldt; niece Marilyn Szymanski. Survived by children, Todd (Cheryl), Lori Bieging, Lisa (Scott) Shrum; grandchildren, Jon (Shannon), Michelle (Jon), Margot (Blake), Erik, Christina, Ian; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sandy Menozzi, Pat Seefeldt; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carol was born to Pauline (Koosman) and Wilbert Busch. She grew up in Lake Elmo and later moved to East St. Paul and graduated from Harding High School. Carol met her husband at UWRF in 1959, where she graduated with a degree in biology, minoring in chemistry and sociology. Carol began her career at the University of MN in the USDA lab, then doing kidney research at the University Hospital. With a move to Cloquet, she began her career in social work in the geriatrics unit at Moose Lake State Hospital. In 1968, she and Dennis moved to Stillwater, where they raised their family and she began a 31-year career with Washington County Social Services. There she helped start the Children’s Mental Health Collaborative and was on the founding board of HSI. After retiring, she devoted her time to photography, her favorite subjects were nature, wildlife, and the outdoors. Her photos can be found in the homes of many, she shared them widely. Carol and Dennis enjoyed golfing, hiking, and traveling, taking annual camper trips to the North Shore, weekend trips to the cabin in Hayward with family, and exploring the Northwestern United States and Canada. She was active in the Scandia-Marine Lions Club and Elim Lutheran Church, where she served on the council as vice chair and as president of the Women of ELCA. She shared her love of photography by teaching classes and working with 4-H students. She also volunteered at Parmly Senior Living. Carol’s later years were spent at Boutwell’s Landing in Stillwater, where she enjoyed many activities and socializing with staff and residents. Her faith was always integral in her life, but above all, family was most important to Carol.

Carol’s life will be celebrated privately with a graveside service this fall.  Memorials are preferred to Lakeview Hospice or Elim Lutheran Church.
