  1. Butch was my good friend since the early 90’s when I drove trucks with him and Cheryl at Bud Meyer Truck Lines. I haven’t seen him probably since 1998 but we spoke probably 6-8 times a year. I remember the first time I met him I didn’t actually speak with him. I was in a truckstop in Carlisle,Pa., I noticed a very large man with a droopy moustache and a gentle face and his tiny wife, I didn’t think much about it after that. Then about a month later I was in our terminal in Lake City and there they were again. I had no idea that the couple I had observed had worked for the same company as me. I told them the story and we had a good laugh and became instant friends.
I know he was heartbroken about Cheryl’s passing but seemed to be going on and enjoying life as much as he could. I know he was so proud of his kids and grandkids and would go on and on about them. I’m just heartbroken over the news. I have no idea how he passed so if someone could contact me at some point that would be much appreciated Butch had many friends at Bud Meyer and he wil be truly missed. We have a page on Facebook called “I use to work for Bud Meyer Truck Lines” and I will pass on the word.
    Please accept my condolences.

  2. Butch is my father in-law. I feel so greatful to have been able to meet and get to know him over the last 8 yrs. He was a one of a kind man. Anyone who knew Butch know he had four loves, His wife Cheryl (who he missed dearly) His dog Dooger and above all else his two boys. He was so proud of them and I don’t think a father could ask or hope for any better than how they turned out. Butch left us knowing we would all be ok and well taken care of by each other. He made a positive difference in so many lives throughout Forest Lake, It is amazing!!!! I can only hope that I will have such an impact before it is my time to leave this earth. Thank you to all that have been so kind and helpful through our family’s difficult time. Butch would be proud. He will be greatly missed by so many. We love you Butch!!!

  3. BUTCH AND DOOGER WERE OUR SATURDAY MORING GREETERS AT THE VET CLINIC. BUTCH WAS A KIND, COMPASSIONATE PERSON WHO ENTERTAINED EVERYONE ( INCLUDING ALL THE PETS) BUTCH AND DOOGER HAVE TOUCHED MANY LIVES AND WILL BE GREATLY MISSED.

  4. Dad I can not explain how much I miss you right now! There are so many good memories we have together and I only wish I would have enough time to tell everyone them but I have to get on the road to come and see you for the final time. I love you and miss you soooo much, Ryan

  5. We will miss Butch very much. He was also the first one who came in introduced himself to us when we moved in next door and made use feel welcome. It was nice to have someone around who would keep watch on the neighborhood – made us feel safer. We miss having him around already! I hope he has found peace and is with his wife now whom he loved to tell us fishing stories about.

  6. We will miss Butch in our neighborhood! Every time we left home or came home, he was out by his garage and we would wave at each other. When we would go out to get the mail or newspaper, Dugger would greet us while Butch was calling him to come home. In the summer, they would go down to the lake and get out in the deeper water and play together. That was always fun to watch. We appreciated all the times he brought his 4 wheeler and helped move the snow in our driveway, especially the deep or wet snows. That saved us hours of time. Often when you talked to Butch, he would tell you about his family and what they were doing. He was so proud of his sons and their families.

  7. Thank you Butch for making my day brighter with your wonderful dog and all the visits we shared at my office. I will miss your gental spirit and kind nature. It has been my pleasure knowing him and Cheryl all these years.

  8. Keep your memories of your Dad close to your heart and remember them always. He was so proud of his sons and would be emotional whenever he boasted about your accomplishments. Keep him always in your heart. He was a good and kind man who loved his family above all.

  9. Butch was the first person I met when we moved to Juniper Court. He was such a helpful, kind man, and I can’t believe I won’t see him and Dooger hanging out in the driveway anymore. RIP, Butch–you will be much missed!

  10. Butch is my father and a damn good one for the hand he was dealt, in the past few years i may have held things against him that were not even valid concerns. Now looking through photos with my mom i see that we meant the world to him. He was a big softie with a big heart for everyone. He was sad after Cheryl died and really just wanted companionship like everybody else. One of my favorite things about him is when he comes over with Dooger so doogie can play with my dogs. The best part being how every time he gets here Doogie bolts out of the truck and races for my dogs only to collide and play for hours on end, every time he would get pist at Dooger for being so energetic but then EVERY time he follows it with ” so i’m on the way here and i say to Doogie, Doogie were getting closer to Diesels house, were 3 miles, 2 miles, right down the road, oooh theres Diesel!” And again every time he wonders why his dog goes nuts. My earliest memorys of him are loving on any dog he sees anywhere he goes, Dooger kept him alive for the last 3 years and i am so happy he finally got the dog of his dreams.

  11. Like many have said before me on this page, Butch was one of a kind. It became an almost daily ritual to see him and Doogie in our store. And this ritual I’ve been accustomed to for over two years now since I started working at Chuck & Dons. I don’t believe we will ever get used to not seeing Butch and Dooger walk through the door every day, or not have them just hang around just to chat. This is something I will miss very much. I thought of Butch and Dooger as family at Chuck & Dons, and will always think of him that way. In place of seeing them on a daily basis, I now will think of them everyday and always be floored at the extraoridanary friendship he and Dooger shared, and for the love and kindess he showed everyone. He loved his friends, his family (he told stories of you often, always smiling the whole time), his family at South Shore Vet and Chuck and Dons, and his Dooger. I only hope he knows how much we all loved him as well. Everyone who loved him are in my thoughts.

  12. I was sorry to hear of Butch’s passing. I only knew him from seeing his smiling face with Dooger either hanging out at Chuck N Don’s, where my daughter works, or from the seeing him at Southshore vet . He seemed like a great man, and I know my daughter thought very highly of him. I’m sure he will be missed.

  13. Damn, Butch was a great man. i always enjoyed seeing him at work, and on occasions Butch and Dooger would come out on break with me. Butch was always good company and he was my first customer. i was always worried about the man, not only for his physical health but his emotional health as well. Lastly, i know he missed his wife dearly. i asked him about his very heavy smoking and he did not show fear of death. I guess when you loose the one you truly love life just isn’t the same. May God bless you and bring you to His holy kingdom so you and Him may have an eternity full of uncompromisable happiness and joy. In Jesus Christ powerful name I pray for this man, Amen.

  15. Butch was one of a kind. He was a great man who loved dooger and his family. I have known Butch for a few years now always coming in to chuck and dons. I have always considered Butch and Dooger as one of our family. Always there with the great Dane rescues giving them a hand. On super hot days he would always call up to see who was working and ether get us frosties or dilly bars. The love he had for people and pets was one of a kind. Butch, you will be greatly missed. We know you will watch over your family and for Doogie and keep them safe and help them all through the hard times and help them celebrate the good time’s. You will never be forgotten. It has been a great honor to have known you.
    Love
    Amanda and Manny.

  16. I will never forget Butch, he was such a kindhearted man who had a love for his dog like no other. The relationship they had can never be replaced and I know he’ll be watching over doogie. I will really miss seeing him when I’m at work, he brought so much joy to both the employees and the customers at Chuck and Dons. Butch, we are taking care of doogie and will not rest until we find the perfect home for him!

  17. On behalf of the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225 we give thanks for Butch’s military service to our nation.
