Age 33 of Cedar, formerly of Willmar. Loving Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, and Friend. Went home to the Lord on May 7, 2015. Preceded in death by her grandparents. Athena lived life to the fullest. She grew up in Olivia, MN graduated from BOLD High School where she was involved in everything from music to sports and was an honor student. She graduated from the University of MN in 2004 and started a career in sales. Athena loved sales and could sell ice to eskimos. She was a friend to everyone she met, she loved to have fun, was always on the go, and never missed an opportunity to have a great time. Athena reconnected with a friend from high school in 2010, Ben Krueger, and on September 3, 2011 they became husband and wife. Athena was always at the lake, and her and Ben bought their first house together on Lake George, fulfilling her dream of living on a lake. She enjoyed boating and watching the sunset on the water. On May 6, 2014, Athena and Ben welcomed Amari Grace into the world. Amari means Gift from God which is truly the right name for her, as she was Athenas greatest blessing. In December 2013, while pregnant with Amari, Athena was diagnosed with breast cancer. During her battle, Athenas belief in God was radiated out for all to see. She had faith that would move mountains and was unparalleled to most on earth. Athenas journey into heaven wasnt always easy, but she had strength, courage and faith that supported her on the journey. She will forever be an angel for many people, and will never be forgotten. i have never met Athena, I just read her story and I can’t believe that people like her exist outside of fairytales..What a fairy princess she must have been! and God in His infinite mercy, bestowed the grace upon her to make it to her sweet Amari’s first birthday!! it is literally too much to bear. I cannot express my condolences to all of you, complete strangers, but you have moved a tough Boston girl to a puddle of tears…May God bless you all with Athens’s courage and grace.
