Margaret Faye (Louden) Keillor passed away on Friday evening, April 17, at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, surrounded by her two sons, Jeremy and Will, her daughter Amanda, husband Steve, and three fellow church members.
Margaret Keillor was born on July 17, 1950, in Littlefork, Minnesota, to Bernice and Harold Louden. She graduated from Concordia College (Moorhead) in 1972, and then worked for several years as a disability examiner for the State of Minnesota. She married Steve Keillor on June 24, 1978, at the historic Muskego Norwegian Lutheran Church in St. Paul.
Margaret and Steve moved to Askov in July 1979, and lived 3 miles north of town for the next 41 years. Margaret drove the bakery truck for the Askov Bakery, worked part-time for Gift Design, served as a teacher’s aid at Willow River Elementary School, and taught 2 years at Harvest Christian School. In 1997, she went to work as a Postal Clerk in Pine City, ultimately rising to the position of Postmaster there before retiring in 2012. In retirement, she was a substitute librarian for the East Central Regional Library system in Sandstone, Hinckley, Pine City, Cambridge, and elsewhere.
She served as a volunteer at the Pine County Historical Society museum in Askov, including several years as its treasurer. She loved greeting folks at the museum.
Since June 2023, she and Steve have lived in an RV at a park near Clear Lake – traveling to Texas in the winter. Margaret has been a member at Memorial Drive Bible Fellowship (Askov), First Presbyterian Church (Hinckley) where she played piano for services, and now at The North Church in Mounds View, Minnesota.
Margaret loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was reading a book on heaven shortly before she died – shortly before she could see it for herself.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Harold & Bernice Louden; aunt, Olive Reinhart. She is survived by her husband, Steve Keillor; sons, Jeremy (Carrie) Keillor and William (Sonia) Keillor; daughter, Amanda (Patrick Pelham) Keillor; and four grandchildren, Owen, Amelia, Elena, and Edith.
Margaret’s funeral will be held at 11 AM on Monday April 27 with visitation beginning at 10 AM at The North Church, 5151 Program Avenue, Mounds View. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts honoring Margaret can go to the Wycliffe Bible Translators work of Jonathan and Jenny Moe in Papua New Guinea.
