February 19, 1934 ~ March 30, 2021

Rosalie Stella Thurston, 87, passed away peacefully at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge, Minnesota on March 30, 2021. Rose was born on February 19, 1934 in South St. Paul, Minnesota to Frank and Rosalie (Furlaga) Kosowski. She lived her whole life in her beloved home of Minnesota. She praised it’s “quality of life”, and didn’t mind the cold weather because she said “it keeps the riff-raff out.” Beloved wife of 59 years to James Thurston, she is also survived by her children Deborah (James) Thurston, Kevin (Karen) Thurston, Cindy Thurston and Kelle (Paul) Madigan and her four grandchildren Cathleen Carnahan, Benjamin Carnahan, Mahala Haughn and Finn Haughn. Rose was preceded in death by her parents and her eight siblings. She loved family and fishing, and was most content while was sitting with family on the dock or boat watching her bobber for a hit. She was tough, and had no qualms about cutting leeches in half with just her fingernail, or un-hooking her catch. She was also an avid gardener, and loved to watch things grow. Her garden yielded many things, including cucumbers she would make into her famous summertime cucumber and dill cream salad. She also made a mean pan of lasagna using the tomatoes she canned. She was also a great seamstress, and loved sewing for her kids, grandkids and also a Polish orphanage. A dancer is what she wanted to be in her next life, as Dancing with the Stars was her favorite show. A celebration of Rosalie's life 11 AM Friday, July 23rd with visitation beginning one hour prior at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. The family would like to thank the compassionate caregivers at GracePointe Crossing for helping Rose and the whole family make this difficult transition in such a loving way.

  1. My love and hugs to you all. She was a wonderful person, always laughing and welcoming. I like to imagine all the sisters playing poker in heaven together. Love, Mary & Jon Nelson and family

  2. We have many fond memories of Auntie Rose, especially the summer vacations where we enjoyed fishing, swimming & boating during the day, and marathon poker games at night. This photo is from Rose’s last visit before her sister Ann (my mom) passed away. The 2 beautiful ladies were singing an old Polish song. Now they are both angels, singing in heaven. ❤❤

  3. Uncle Jim and family……I am so sorry to hear about Auntie Rose. She was always the sweetest, nicest person. I always remember visiting on Saturday or Sunday afternoons as a child. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Denise Kowalski (Thurston)
