Virginia Lee Jarema, born Virginia Lee Starrett on May 10, 1946, in Chicago, passed peacefully while resting on the morning of April 1, 2026.
She lived a life rooted in love, family, and simple joys. She was a devoted daughter, a loving mother, a proud grandmother, and a cherished great-grandmother. Few things brought her more joy than her children, grandchildren, great-grandson, and even her beloved “grand pups,” who always held a special place in her heart.
She shared 59 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Joseph, celebrating their anniversary each February 3rd—a testament to a lifetime of commitment, faithfulness, and partnership.
An avid quilter, she especially loved tying quilts by hand, creating pieces that will continue to warm her family for generations. She had a deep love for animals, especially pigs, and delighted in having her dream pig, Hampton.
She also loved spending time playing bingo and visiting the casino, where she was known for always finding a little victory and enjoying the thrill of the game.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; her sons, Joey and Richard; her daughter-in-law, Marisa; her grandchildren, Cate, Zach, and Nathan; her great-grandson, Theo; and her grand pups, Winnie, Presley, Scout, Rufus, and Roomba.
Waiting to welcome her in heaven are her parents, John and Shirley; her stepmother, Virginia; her stepsister, Judy; and many beloved pups, rabbits, cats, and a pig she considered family.
Her life was marked by quiet creativity, deep devotion to family, and a tender love for the little things that made life meaningful. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
