Thomas "Thom" Fulton Kinley

May 6, 1948 ~ December 20, 2025

Loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and Veteran passed away on December 20, 2025 at the age of 77.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert & Marian Kinley; and sister, Ruth Leisure.

Thom was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea (1968–1970), an experience that shaped much of his early adulthood. After marrying Tove, Thom embraced her Norwegian culture and treasured the seven years they spent living in Norway. During that time, they had two children, enjoyed their sailboat, being in nature, reading, and his close relationship with Tove’s family. As an IT Specialist, Thom took pride in his work and enjoyed growing in his career. Those who knew him will remember his love for his grandsons, being active in their church and his sense of humor. He will be deeply missed.

  1. Tove and family,

You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this time of loss and healing. As Thom’s brother-in-law, I knew him since 1964 as I was married to Ruth (Thom’s sister) for over 56 years. My dear wife (Ruth) passed away in Florida on August 23, 2024 from multiple sclerosis complications.

  2. On behalf of the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225, we give thanks for Thom’s military service in the Army for our country.
