January 1968, my junior year in high school, party at Keith Stact’s basement. Tom was a senior. Tom and I kissed and then exchanged class rings-I had just gotten mine. We were totally kidding around, not serious at all. We said good night and on Monday Tom called me to say he’d lost my class ring! But being the gentleman that he was, he gave me $23.95, the cost to replace it! So I ordered another ring and a few weeks later Freddy Cropsy, along with Gil Gamst and Kris Dahlin, drove me to the Foshay Tower, at that time the tallest building in downtown Minneapolis, to pick up my new ring. We got stopped by the cops for jay walking! A few years later I lost that ring, never to be found. That’s what comes to mind when I think of Tom Thornton. Rest In Peace💞
Sorry for your loss. Tom was always a special friend and neighbor To the McCormick family.
On behalf of the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225, we give thanks for Tom’s military service to our country in the Air Force.
I remember how much mom and loved when Tom and Gloria came over to play cards. Love to all the family Margaret
