Right after Tanner was completed with his basic training, he and his recruiter stopped by Spring Lake Park High School for a visit with students. He had to check in with me at the main office.
Tanner was so proud of what he had accomplished and he looked so sharp in his uniform.
He had that great smile as we talked for a few minutes, before he had to move on to visit in Student Services.
Tanner and April were the first people in SoCal to be nice to me and soon later became my best friends in college. I moved 6 hours away from my tiny farm town and was alone, depressed, and desperately wanting to move back home. I was hanging on by a thread when I met them. As much as I tried to brush them off, I had no choice but to let these two love birds force me to go to lunch with them after class. We sat at Karl Strass brewery for hours and hours getting to know one another. It was this exact day that I made two new genuine friends that made being in SoCal just a little bit better. Tanner and April encouraged me to stay and comforted me at one of my lowest points in life. It did not take long for Tanner and April to soon feel like family. We would go on lots of adventures in Jeep Jeep to Mavericks! Not to mention the time Tanner tried to bring home a free puppy from the bar, we were all able to laugh about that the next day. & I’ll never forget the day they brought Riley home. Tanner would BBQ for April and I while we spent all of the time we had studying our dental hygiene courses. Tanner and April had a love that I couldn’t even explain! After graduation Tanner told me he was going to pop the question and that it was going to be on the beach in Pismo. I’ve never been happier for two people to unify their love and become one. Soon after, I was honored to stand by April’s side on their wedding day and watch her marry the love of her life. Tanner was a stranger to no one. Strong willed, hard working, and dedicated in all aspects of life. I feel honored and blessed to have known such a special and kind soul. Tanner will truly be missed by so many. He certainly left an impression on so many people who have wonderful stories and experiences to share. I have comfort knowing he was a believer in Christ. My heart is with April and Baby Kugler
