Stephen Anthony Gfrerer

June 9, 1966 ~ June 23, 2025

Age 59, of Vadnais Heights, passed away on June 23, 2025 surrounded by those who loved him. Stephen is survived by his beloved daughter, Elizabeth (Liz); future son-in-law, Brandon; father, Roger; siblings, Leann, Brian, Cheryl, Renee; and special friend, Lynn.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn.

Steve was an avid outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at his hunting camp (his happy place). Where he loved watching the wildlife and sitting by a firepit with a glass of wine, enjoying the peace and quiet of nature and the great outdoors.  His love of nature was also evident at home, with his beautiful yard and vegetable gardens.  Steve also found joy in cooking and sharing his creations with others.  Smoking wild game or grilling his signature heart attack burgers was something he deeply enjoyed.

Steve was the owner of Property and Building Services, Inc, providing home and commercial inspections within Minnesota.  His knowledge and expertise will be missed by his clients and real estate agents in the community.

We would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated medical team at St John’s ICU, who compassionately cared for Steve during his last 9 days on this earth.  The care and support they provided Steve and those of us who sat by his side was remarkable. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. Steve’s life will be celebrated with a private family service.

  1. I am without words. I just saw you and you promised me you would get better. You laughed and said, “I can’t let my dad outlive me.” And without fail, you spoke of your beautiful daughter, whom I have had the pleasure of watching grow up on your many posts of her time with you. You also mentioned that you were pleased with her decision to get married to her fiancé. Words cant describe how much you will be missed. You were always there to lend a helping hand and give your expertise on one thing or another. From the top of the roof to the pit of a basement, there wasn’t anything you didn’t know about a home. Thank you for being my friend, I will miss you deeply.

  2. Steven, this maybe what started your love for nature. It was on one of our camping trips when we were little, I was in charge of watching out for you while our families were packing up to leave for home. You must have been around three or four years old. You and I were in the woods and discovered a small tree frog. I caught this frog and put it in your hands. You covered it with your other hand and wanted to show it to your Mom. As we were walking back to our campsite, some how some way you managed this feat! We reached your Mom and I said Steven show your Mom what we caught! You opened your hands and there was no frog in those hands! I said Steven what happened to the frog? And that is when the magic happened! You opened your mouth nice and wide and the frog jumped out of your mouth!!! Your Mother screamed, I was disgusted! And you got your mouth scrubbed out!
I would say you were bitten by the Mother Nature bug right then!
RIP: Steven, thanks for the memory
    Love your cousin Sandy Bani(Lancette)

  3. Ah the camping trips. You were such a a little devil but also the sweetest charmer that ever lived. We had so much fun on those trips. So much freedom. You will be missed by everyone you touched. Say hi to your Mom for me and give my Mom and Dad a hug too.
