Richard "Rick" Platt
January 7, 1957 ~ May 18, 2024
Age 67, formerly of Brookings, SD. Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa & Brother, passed away surrounded by family on May 18, 2024, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Preceded in death by parents, Harold brother, David; niece, Liza. Survived by loving wife of 45 years, Nancy; children, Heather (Cameron) Anderson, Stephanie, Brendan (Heather Holida); grandchildren, Kalyn, Saige, Alex, Piper, Ellie, Ayden; siblings, Larry, Jim (Shelly), Linda (Larry) Mitchell; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Rick graduated from Deubrook High School in 1976. In 1980 he started his career at 3M in Brookings and worked there for 41 years until his retirement in 2021. He was an avid sports fan, his favorite teams were the Twins, Vikings & SDSU Jackrabbits. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held in Brookings at a later date.
We have fond memories of Rick. He was a very good man. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
