Age 81 of Forest Lake. Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa passed away on December 22, 2024, surrounded by his family. Preceded in death by parents, Floyd siblings, Marilee Larkey, Layton. Survived by wife of 61 years, Judy; children, Kris (Rex) Ewert, Curtis (Jennifer), Michelle; grandchildren, Brooke (Brandon), Gunnar (Hannah), Paige, Cody (Rachinna), Hailee (Jake), Levi; great-grandchildren, Walter, Harper, August; sisters-in-law, Janet, Joanne Gjavenis, Sharon (Tom) Pogreba, Sandy (Rick) Hubmann, Wanda Olinger; brother-in-law, Lad (Joan) Olinger; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends. Dick worked hard all his life, starting Shafer Electronics in 1973. Dick also loved having fun. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, hunting, and taking fishing trips to places like Alaska, Cabo, Hawaii, and Canada. He also traveled in his motorhome with friends to NASCAR races in Talladega. Dick was an avid crossword puzzler and a big fan of old country western music.Dick lived by the motto “the reward of a job well done is to have done it.” His family and friends will always remember the love and joy he brought to their lives. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A celebration of life service 11 AM, Saturday December 28th with visitation beginning at 10 AM at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. Dick’s celebration will continue with a luncheon reception following the service. Interment, Scandinavian Cemetery, Forest Lake.

  4. I extend my condolences to the Cohoes Family on hearing of Dick’s passing. Dick was a great friend, classmate and teammate of mine at Forest Lake High.
    I am honored to have known Dick and we had a great visit during our 60th class reunion a few years ago.

    We will miss him but the fond memories will live on. Dick was a person you could always count on.
