Richard Alan Bennett

With deep sadness we share the passing of Richard Alan Bennett (Rick), age 70, of Forest Lake, Minnesota on May 18th, 2023. Richard was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on January 25th, 1953. At one point in his younger years he pursued a career as a chef but would ultimately spend many years working in security. As a father, Richard spent many afternoons playing baseball, and football with the whole neighborhood in the backyard. He was also very fond of storms and would often load us up his truck to chase down a potential tornado. Rick will be remembered for his sense of humor and ability to make people smile everywhere he went. He never took anything too seriously (except Bingo) and was content just to be in the company of those he loved. His memory serves as a reminder to appreciate and focus on the simple things in life. Richard is survived by his children John (Dena), Danyelle and partner Anthony Silva, Bridgett (Josh) Ladehoff and his grandchildren: Danielle, Devan, Delana, Wyley, Elliot and Ethan. He is survived by his father, Henry Bennett, brothers Eugene (Gail), Michael (Kandy), sisters Susan (Lee) Thorson, Debra (Gary) Nelson and many nieces and nephews. Richard is also survived by his companion Carolyn Cover. Preceded in death by mother Diana (Pratt) Bennett and granddaughter Dakota Bennett. His family is holding a small Celebration of Life on Wednesday in the party room at his residence. He will be buried on June 22nd in Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
