Raymond Robert Holl

Raymond Robert Bob Holl died at his home in London, England on July 4, 2011. Bob was born July 27, 1924 in St. Paul and was raised in Forest Lake, MN. Bob served in the U.S. Navy in the V12 unit and graduated from the University of Minnesota. He received his commission as Ensign at Notre Dame University and was then sent to Japan for one year. Bob earned a Masters in Chemical Engineering and was employed by Exxon for 37 years, working in the U.S., Holland, Switzerland, England, Italy and Scotland. He retired in 1986 and worked as a consultant in London for the next years. Before moving to London, Bob and his family lived in Highlands, New Jersey where they now have a summer home. Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mabel Jirik, daughters, Jane Holl (Leon Epstein) and Barbara Ann (Karel Ehrlich); grandchildren, Jonas, Gabriel and Silas Holl-Epstein and Elena, Laurent and Andre Ehrlich; brothers, Donald (Luella) and Leo (Marilyn); sisters, Ellen (Warren) Carlson, Nadine (Larry) Johnson, Marguerite (Bill) Jeans, Rosalie (Tom) Hall and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Jane Holl; sister, Mary Johnson and brother, Richard. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Friday, July 29th at Church of St. Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 9:30 AM at the church. Interment with military honors will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake.
