Mona was born on November 29, 1937 in St. Paul, Minn. and grew up in Little Canada until her marriage to Archie McCollum on June 7, 1958, where they raised their three children in Maplewood. She loved being a mom and was devoted to the many activities her children were involved in such as softball, figure skating and girl scouts with the girls and hockey with her son. They enjoyed many fishing trips to Mille Lacs Lake and a camping trip to Alaska. She was an avid reader, crafter and enjoyed spending time in her kitchen preparing delicious meals or treats for her family and friends. Tragically Archie died in a work accident in September of 1981. As a single mother, Mona found strength from her children, faith and friends. In the fall of 1994, Mona met a wonderful and loving man, Thomas Thoresen. They married on April 7, 1995. They enjoyed traveling, participating in church activities and spending time with family and friends. Mona retired from North St. Paul - Maplewood School District where she dedicated almost 21 years of service. She was adored by so many and will be greatly missed by all.
A celebration of Mona’s life will be 1-4 PM Saturday, March 18th with a memorial service beginning at 1 PM at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake.
With loving memories of Mona.
Dear Mike, Julie, and Lisa, My deepest condolences to you and your families. Mona was always one of my favorite cousins. She always had a beautiful smile and a positive attitude. We spent many fun times with her and Jim and her mom before she married Archie. He like Mona was the salt of the earth. Tom is a great guy also. Course Mona would never picked guys who had the same qualities as she. My favorite memory of Mona was her helping me get my hair done and make-up and dressed for my Sr. prom. What a fun time that was. So many years ago. I am in Florida for the winter months so will be unavailable to be at her funeral. My thoughts are with you and your families. Give your Uncle Jim a big hug for me. May God bless each and every one of you and your families. Joyce Revoir Langness
