Nancy K. Immel passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023 after a long, courageous battle with congestive heart failure. She was born to Robert E. Wheaton and Norma M. (Judkins) Wheaton on August 25, 1946 in St. Paul, MN. She was second in line of four children, loved and picked on by her brothers Bob, Grant, and Roy. Nancy ended her life the way she lived her life – strong-willed and with a whole lot of sass. She was a small business owner for the majority of her life, including door to door sales of raspberries with her brother, Bob, when she was a kid to owning and operating EZ Roller and Bar Outfitters. Nancy was extremely generous with her time and was a strong advocate for the underdog. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary in Forest Lake for many years and then as a member of the Forest Lake Lions Club where she was a leader and supporter of their mission. She loved to play cards and dice with her family and much joy was experienced over games of Cribbage, Gotcha, 500, and Farkle. Nancy enjoyed knitting and was an avid reader. She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her 2 children, Deborah (Mark) Toycen of Colfax, WI and Gregory (Sharay) Waller of Houston, TX. She left her legacy on 3 beautiful grandchildren; Emily (Ethan) Thomson of Eau Claire, WI, Kaitlin (Trevor) Secraw of Cameron, WI, and Sara Waller of Houston, TX and 2 great-grandchildren, Isaac and Oliver; she is also survived by her brothers, Bob Wheaton of Lino Lakes, MN and Grant Wheaton of Scandia, MN. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life, Howard E. Immel, brother Roy, sisters-in-law LuAnn Wheaton and Pat Wheaton. A small, private burial service will be held for Nancy in Scandia, MN at a later date. Nancy’s wish was that any memorials be sent to the Forest Lake Lions Club.

Guestbook

  1. How does one put meaningful words that properly describes my sister Nancy who I have known and loved all her life. Impossible. She was helpful in all of my life endeavors above and beyond all normal expectations. Just being able to share life’s challenges with her throughout the years made my life much easier and my hope is I did the same for my dear sister Nancy. Hip hip hooray Nancy is now in paradise forever and ever . Love you little sis!!! Brother Bobby

  2. A gem! She gave so much of herself to this community and was a tireless supporter of youth programs. It was an honor to partner with her. Rest well, Nancy.

  3. Dear Nancy,
You will be missed. Thank you for your leadership, fellowship, friendship and mentorship to many Forest Lake Lions, especially to me. I will especially miss your smarts and ‘sass’! You were a wealth of knowledge and compassion.
Your dedication to the Lions club and the community was boundless and often without fanfare, but believe me, had a HUGE impact for helping others.
To your family, we are so sorry for your loss. May it bring you peace in knowing she is restored with God and reunited with the loving family and friends who have passed before her.
    With love from,
    Lion Marc Harshman

  4. Nancy was so special for the Forest Lake Lions Club. She was so good for new members and taught me the ins and outs of being a Lion. She had a lasting impact on our club in Forest Lake. A dedicated member of our club.

  5. Memories of working with Nancy on 4th of July events for the Past Presidents Parley scholarship funds for the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 225 of Forest Lake. So much fun and laughter. Memories of traveling with her to New Orleans, listening to jazz and of course doing some shopping too.
    A kind and wonderful friend.
