Nadine Srdar

July 31, 1934 ~ September 1, 2025

Nadine Srdar, who exhibited a life of love, faith, humor, and grace, died on September 1, 2025. She was 91.

Nadine was born July 31,1934, in Duluth to Achille and Josephine (Frighetto) Floreano. She graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1952 and married her high school sweetheart, Nick Srdar, on January 8, 1955. The newlyweds began their family while living in Floodwood and Keewatin, whilst also devoting significant time to the well-being of her two young siblings after the death of her mother in 1960, and returned to Duluth in1965 to raise their three daughters.

Nadine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Upon meeting individuals that knew Nadine, her daughters often heard, “Your mother is such a kind person” or “Your mother has made a positive difference in my life.” Nadine made lasting friendships throughout her life. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family and was also a talented musician, playing oboe and piano and possessing melodic vocals. She instilled a strong sense of family and values in her daughters and was a role model to many.

Nadine held several professional positions, including at the Duluth Air Base, St. Luke’s Hospital, and the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). Her intellect and collegiality often led to promotions. The bulk of her career was at UMD, where she successfully served as lead
academic budget officer, assistant to the chancellor, and collegiate administrator.

Many happy memories were made at the family’s lake property in Northern Wisconsin. Upon her retirement from UMD, Nick and Nadine moved to Venice, Florida, where they developed new friendships and enjoyed eleven years of walks on the beach and visits from family and friends. They moved back to Duluth in 2004 to spend more time with their family. Nadine was an active member of her communities, volunteering and participating in various organizations and civic and church activities. She most recently resided in Forest Lake, Minnesota.

Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Joseph Floreano.

She is survived by daughters, Teresa (Kenneth) Rowe, Gina (Bruce) Lindholm, and Mary (Patrick) Keenan; grandchildren, Amanda (Lindholm) (Nathaniel) Lucas, Evan (Anne Czernek) Rowe, Matthew (Morgan) Lindholm, and Katherine (Rowe) (Nathaniel) Hoch; great-grandchildren, Mason Lindholm, Madeline Lindholm, and Leona Hoch; sister Gloria (Elliott) Johnson; sisters-in-law Barbara Tempelis and Carol Floreano; many nieces and nephews; dear friend Gerald McNeil.

Deepest gratitude to Nadine’s care team, her fourth, fifth, sixth,… daughters.
