Michael M. "Mike" Cooper

Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 7, 2025.

Preceded in death by parents, Ray and Lois Cooper; sister, Diane Mack.

Survived by wife of 55 years, Mary Ann; children, Derek (Rachel) Cooper, Megan (Corey) Peterson, Erin (Corey) Morning; grandchildren, Doran Cooper, Shea Peterson, Josie Cooper, Evan Peterson; siblings, Dennis, Barb, Connie (Ron) Frazier, Lori (Todd) Hoffman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mike was born in Milbank, SD, and he often returned there to help on the Heismeyer farm. Growing up, he was a good big brother…buying Connie her own pair of figure skates and walking Lori down the aisle. He was a proud Army Veteran and had a long and successful career at 3M, working along many he considered to be friends. Mike was no stranger to youth athletics, helping Derek perfect his slap shot, reminding Megan to charge the ball during softball, or helping Erin learn a front walkover. He was fortunate enough to be able to watch his grandkids in all the activities they loved. Mike was so proud that all three of his kids graduated college and found spouses that made them happy, just as Mike and Mary Ann found each other. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially working in the yard and keeping it perfectly manicured. After retirement, Mike and Mary Ann were able to enjoy each other’s company while traveling to Ireland and Alaska. Most importantly, Mike cherished spending time with his family and friends, whether it be playing cribbage, watching the MN State Hockey tournament, or going to family reunions. Mike’s ability to reminisce, and his witty sense of humor, will certainly be missed.

Visitation 3-5 PM Sunday, October 26th at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Monday, October 27th with visitation beginning at 10 AM at the Church of Saint Peter, Forest Lake. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the family, a portion will be donated to Mike’s favorite charitable organizations. The family would like to extend a special thank to Ecumen Hospice for all their care and support.
