Age 76 of Scandia. Loving Husband and Dad passed away with Linda & Troy by his side on January 20, 2022 at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis. Lee was born in Alberta Township in Benton County on August 5, 1945 and grew up in a farming community in Gilman and later lived in Foley. Lee enlisted in the Army in August of 1964 and spent time in Vietnam. He then went on to work for Unisys for 29 years. In 1973, he met Linda at Oscars Bar in Minneapolis and they were married in 1975. They then made their home in Scandia where Troy was born. Lee loved to hunt and fish with Troy and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Lee and Linda enjoyed traveling to places like Alaska, Aruba, Panama City, British Columbia and many more locations. Lee stayed connected with many friends, family and Army buddies through social media. He also enjoyed the men groups at White Castle and McDonalds. He got a kick out of giving people a hard time which meant he really liked you. The White Castle group will remember the following saying, “That’s Her Job!” He will be missed so much by his family and many friends. A celebration of Lee’s life will be held 3-6 PM Wednesday, February 2nd at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. To recognize Lee’s service to our Country, a ritual service will be provided by the Forest Lake American Legion and VFW at 4:30 PM that afternoon. Interment, Fort Snelling Cemetery. 1. Lynn and I were so sorry to hear of Lee’s passing. Readers Digest had a regular feature called “My Most Unforgettable Character” Lee was mine. I worked with his wife Linda (we called her Lew) for many years, we used to go for drinks after work, “just one”, Lee would come to pick Lew up and i would work my charms to get him to come in, he knew everyone! This also caused Lee to get numerous parking tickets as one drink turned into many. He was the consumate story teller. He talked about his childhood, being in Vietnam( a hard thing for any veteran to talk about their time in a war), how he met his wife, his job, his friends, pretty much any topic was good for a story by Lee. He called me the wop i called him old man, even when we were all young. Lee was always ready to help anyone who needed it, whether it was a deck, a roof, or a little money when someone fell on hard times and he could make you laugh through your tears. He was a pround man, proud of his heritage, his country, his family and his friends. You will be missed Old man by so very many people, especially by me and lynn. thank you for your service and your friendship. Toni and Lynn

  5. Linda Lew and family. I am sorry to hear of Lee’s passing. Sending warm thoughts, prayers and hugs your way.

  6. My earliest memory of Lee was me standing near by him, but him wondering how to interact with a kid. Go for a drive and eat hamburgers! My folks drove me and my siblings to 15 miles north of the Mexican border, to visit him at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. And when he visited us in Phoenix Arizona, we went to shoot tin cans in the desert. I remember him instinctively strongly reacting to gun fire. It was not until I was an adult that I heard of his time in Viet Nam, where he hollowed out the stacks of cargo in trucks, to imaging that the cargo would stop bullets, and then waiting there until he further imagined that it was a good gamble that no one would see him come out. I am looking forward to hearing stories at the Celebration Of Life & Memorial Service. – Harlan Lewandowski (Herman & Evelyn’s son)

  11. Lee was a special person that touched the lives of everyone he knew and made the world a better place. Troy, your father was so proud of you and of the man that you have become. He enjoyed spending time with you (especially fishing). It was a comfort to him that you lived so close and he appreciated all the help you gave him. Linda, you were the love of Lee’s life and the two of you were inseparable. He enjoyed every minute he spent with you, whether that was visiting friends, going for coffee, or just going for a drive. He appreciated all the love you gave him, and the loving support you provided to him when he needed it the most. Lee is gone, but will never be forgotten. Wishing you love to bring comfort, the courage to face the days ahead, and happy memories to forever hold in your heart. Sending you love and comfort, Nancy Frey

  18. Linda and Troy. My condolences on this personal loss. Even though Lee’s dying was probably on everybody’s mind for a long time, because of his health situation, it is never an easy reality to accept and process when it actually happens. You are in my prayers as you grieve. May Lee rest in peace.
