Karen Violet Alm (Krueger)

Karen Violet (Krueger) Alm, 84, of Forest Lake, Minnesota, died peacefully at Parmly on the Lake in Chisago City on October 30, 2025.

She was born in Lino Lakes, MN, in 1941 to Elmer and Violet Krueger.  She graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1959 and has lived in Forest Lake ever since marrying Russell Alm in 1960.

Most of her working life was spent at Forest Lake Insurance Agency/Landmark Insurance Services.  She tried retirement for a couple weeks and failed – going back to work and staying there until a stroke forced retirement in February 2025.

Karen was an active member of church, helping out in various ways for Faith Break, Rummage Sale and more.  She was active in the Forest Lake Rotary including helping with adopt a highway and various fundraising events such as the polar plunge.

Karen was a traveler!  She visited many places around the globe with Russell and her family.   Highlights would include early road trips with her young family, conventions she would attend with Russell and transitioning into many cruises and other vacations.  She also won several trips at work and after her grandkids were born – loved taking them to see the world.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Violet and Elmer; her husband, Russell; her brother, Lyle Krueger; nephew, David J Alm; niece, Julie Thomson. She is survived by her son, Brian; daughter, Robin Alm (Joseph) Schneider; two grandchildren, Kayli and Taylor; sisters-in-law, Karen M. Alm and Beverly Krueger; many nieces, nephews and her dog, Zoey.

Funeral service will be at 11 AM Friday, November 7^th with visitation beginning at 9:30 at Faith Lutheran Church, Forest Lake. Burial to follow at Scandinavian Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Faith Lutheran Church or the Forest Lake Rotary.
