Judith McCarty

March 20, 1937 ~ March 29, 2019
On March 29, 2019, surrounded by her children and only grandchild, Judith Marlene McCarty of Chisago City, MN, passed peacefully to her eternal home--Heaven.
Born March 20, 1937 in St. Paul, MN, to John and Theresa Schwartz, she is preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward; sister Jeannie Shorn
A professed tomboy, Judy grew up on Lake McCarron's where her heart for animals began with a dog named Jocko and a goat name Willie.
At the age of 15, her generous nature was evident when she was fired from a malt shop for serving too big of ice cream scoops.
Her capacity to love flourished when she met a winsome Edward McCarty. The two married on August 28, 1954, and they later built a home on Langton Lake in Roseville, MN.
It was there that they raised their four children whom she is survived by: son Michael of Lakewood, CO; son Kerry of Mounds View, MN; daughter Marileah of Chisago City, MN; daughter Trisha and son-in-law Mark Luedke of Parker, CO. She is also survived by grandson Jeremy and his wife Jillian McCarty of Redmond, WA.
Judy's life of 82 years was poured into loving people. With a gift of hospitality, she gathered family and friends around her table to spoil them with good food. Beloved pets revered as family were always under foot. Whether a family gathering or a flower garden, Judy made everything special with her creative touch.
With a shared a passion for gardening, Judy and Ed created a beautiful park-like setting. She tended to the flowers, and he grew the vegetables. Instrumental in preserving Langton Lake, the land of Ed and Judy’s Roseville home is now a park for all to enjoy.
In 1995, Ed and Judy built a home on Chisago Lake where they opened up their gardens for visitors to tour.
It is the mix of light-hearted whimsy and refined beauty in her gardens that reflect the very nature of Judy. She grew larger than life hostas, rare wildflowers, classic hydrangeas and vintage-variety roses.
Her quick wit, tenderheart, sweet and generous spirit is greatly missed but lives on in our hearts forever.
She is also survived by sister Joanne Messenger of Alexandria, MN; brother John Schwartz of Maplewood, MN; many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
A celebration of Judy's life 2 PM Thursday April 4th with visitation one hour prior at Roberts Family Life Celebration Home.

Just a great friend that I shall always remember. We had many laughs & good times sitting around a table doing ceramics. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. You will be truly missed & never forgotten, Judy. Love Loonie
I have many fond memories with the McCarty family. Most memorable are the Christmas memories when we would all gather in the living room in a huge circle in Ed and Judy’s beautiful home in Roseville, or swimming in their pool. The food was beyond amazing. Rest In Peace my beautiful aunt. How lucky you are to be in heaven with my favorite uncle Ed and his awesome sense of humor I miss so much, aunt Patsy & uncle Marlin, and Grandpa & Grandma.
I have such great memories of all the parties at their home. Judy was a wonderful hostess awesome cook and event planner. Judy was a wonderful mother, wife, sister in-law and daughter in-law. The spirit you instilled in your children will live on forever. Kathleen
