John Kelly, age 67 of Forest Lake, passed away on July 16, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was a loving husband, father, adored Papa and brother. John was born on March 7, 1956, to Robert and Janet Kelly in St. Paul, MN. He enjoyed hunting, traveling-especially cruises, had a great sense of humor, and loved to spend time with family and friends. John was a union carpenter for 35 years. In his retirement, he volunteered at the Vets Camp in Scandia where he built several cabins and outbuildings. John is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Ashley (Jake) Kelly, Heather (Shawn) Piniewski, and Thor Kelly; stepchildren, Ric Rose, Erin Rose and Heidi Rose; grandchildren, Remi Piniewski, Taylor, Brendan, Lilly, Sophia, Eddy, Teddy and Ramsay; siblings, Bob (Rona) Kelly, Donald (Julie) Kelly, Casey (Sheri) Kelly and Karen Anderson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Janet Kelly and sister, Kimberly Kelly. A celebration of life will be held 3-6 PM on Saturday, August 5th at the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225, 355 West Broadway Ave, Forest Lake. Private interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

  3. Johnny was one of my favorite cousins….he and I are close in age and I think that is why…we shared many laughs together, he was kind and thoughtful and mischievous.
