Joanne Denise Nieman, 72, of North Branch, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, from heart complications. Born on December 18, 1953, in Forest Lake, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Catherine Belland.
Joanne’s life was defined by devotion — to her family, her home, and the simple joys that made her happiest. For 53 remarkable years, she shared her life with her beloved husband, John Nieman. Joanne was a proud mother to her two sons, Chad and Joseph Nieman, who will forever remember her steadfast support, compassion and unconditional love. Joanne’s devotion to her family was unwavering—she poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always offering love, laughter, and her warm presence.
Joanne’s heart was filled with endless joy. She was blessed by the gift of four grandchildren (Amanda Nieman, Allison Nieman, Alex Nieman, and Madison Nieman) and four great-grandchildren (Jayce Nieman, Aurora Martin, Harlow Martin and Ezekiel Nieman). Her family and friends will never forget her sharp witty humor and sarcastic smile.
Joanne found peace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. She took great pride in her home and yard, spending countless hours tending to her gardens and painting the never-ending yard ornaments John created for her enjoying the beauty she created. Summers spent sun fishing with John were some of their most treasured times together, moments that reflected her love for the outdoors and simple beauty of life.
Joanne is survived by her husband, John; sons, Chad (Kim) and Joseph; her brothers, Robert, Chuck, and Roger Belland; and her sisters, Paulette Huber, Diane Krueger, and Mary Lasovich. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Belland.
A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at a later date. Her laughter, love, and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

My deepest sympathy to all her family! I still remember all the times I baby-sat her and her siblings so her mom could go on a date or go and enjoy a function at a local club. All were a good family & their mom was a wonderful person and just seemed to understand & love children, so I can see where Joanne got that love from!
