JoAnn Witt

joann witt

May 31, 1936 ~ February 3, 2023

At age 86, Jo passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on February 3, 2023. Preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Lyle R. Witt, and will live on in the hearts of her 4 daughters; Renae (Steve) Miltenberger, Tamara (Robert) Higgins, Julie (Larry) Rodgers and Cari (Wally) Tuttle. Six grandchildren, Stacie, Chad, Candice, Anthony, Brett and Karlie as well as five great grandchildren. Jo spent her early life in Moorhead where she met and married her high school sweetheart and started a family. Eventually leaving Minnesota in the 60s spending years in California and Utah and settling in Arizona for some 40 plus years. She had a strong passion for Arabian horses, something that was a part of life for many years. Her love for sports, especially football, left her always channeling her inner cheerleader. Sunday best was a Vikings Jersey with matching earrings of course and her signature silver necklace. Her 27 year career spent as a supervisor in the fashion industry bled into all aspects of her life. Truly the best dressed lady down in the barn or the holiday hostess. Always put together. Always with a smile, class and a little bit of sass. Her warm smile, the twinkle in her eye and her sweet, loving soul will be greatly missed by all, especially her “ silly girls” who find peace knowing she is now dancing in heaven with her one true love. A celebration of life is scheduled on Wednesday, May 31st at 1 pm at Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. My heartfelt condolences to Tami, Julie, Renae and Cari on the loss of their Mom. I also want to thank the family for their trust in caring for Jo for the last 4 1/2 years in my home. Jo was a wonderful lady always wanting to look her best. We dressed her up and did her make up every day. She became my sister and I loved her very much. I am very sad that she is gone but happy that she no longer has pain and is dancing with her husband and seeing her two brothers and and one sister again. She missed them very much. We shared a lot of stories about things we did growing up, .a lot of laughter, and some tears. and your love of my husband’s entertaining and posting on facebook. Many nights you went to sleep listening to him singing. Jo, I will never forget you and will love you forever. We miss you so much. Love, Tati, and Donna

  2. Grandma Witt used to make my uncle Butch and his high school girlfriend, Joann (then) Gjervold take me along when they went on dates to the drive-in.
I guess I was supposed to be a kind of .junior chaperone.

  3. We always had so much fun being with your mom & dad lots of partying!! Great memories of our wonderful friends and the family!!! We love you all and wish we could be there for you all!! Sending much love and hugs!!!

  4. Oh, how we’ll miss JoAnn’s zest for life! She was always up for a good adventure and never turned down a chance to get creative. We’ll never forget the memories made building that barn in Sandy, Utah or those Super Bowl parties at their house (what an amazing hostess!). And who could forget how stylish she was – from her perfectly put-together outfits to the way she decorated their home.
Sending all our love and condolences during this difficult time.
