Janet Marie Atwater (Swenson)

February 24, 1930 ~ January 28, 2026

Age 95 of Wyoming. Loving Mom, Grandma & Great-Grandma, passed away surrounded by family on January 28, 2026.

Preceded in death by son, Scott; son-in-law, Steve Landwehr; siblings, Don Swenson, Robert Swenson, Mary Theno. Survived by children, David, Cynthia (Howard) Hultman, Susan Landwehr, Candace, Pamela (Douglas) Jeans; daughter-in-law, Kimberly; many grandchildren & great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Janet loved to spend her time playing Bingo and knitting hats to donate to newborn babies at the hospital. She also enjoyed listening to music, particularly Michael Bublé & Frank Sinatra. Family was the cornerstone of her life, she especially liked going out to eat or shopping with her children & grandchildren. Another “family” to Janet was the community at the Meadows on Fairview, where she lived & thrived for 14 years. Thank you to their wonderful staff for all of the love shared & care.

Janet’s life will be celebrated with a service at 3 PM Thursday, February 5th with visitation beginning at 2 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, Forest Lake. Memorials preferred to Faith Lutheran Church.

  1. So sorry for your loss, I am sure that she will be missed a lot. I only met her a few times but I feel like I have known her for years from all the times that Cindy shared so much about your mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. I know that she loved her family so very much, that she indeed did enjoy shopping excursions with her daughters especially, she loved her independence and did not want that to fade but time and age were slowly taking that away, she always wanted to look her best, and so enjoyed being included in all family gatherings. Our prayers are with you all for peace and comfort, and Larry and I think of you all so fondly.
