Harlen was born 1935 in Fairmont, ND where he worked on the family’s farm until he graduated high school. He married his teenage sweetheart, Sandie, in 1957 and raised their family in Coon Rapids,MN, and Linköping, Sweden. Harlen graduated from the University of MN in Electrical Engineeering. Over a long career at Medtronic, he worked passionately developing lifesaving devices and contributed to multiple patents.
He was a shining example of Christ’s love in performing acts of service and preferred to do so anonymously. He could be found working disaster relief for the Red Cross, sending gifts to widows/widowers, donating to several charities, staying active in church and helping anyone in need. He was an avid golfer and rarely missed the 7 AM tee time with The Texas connection. He was lucky enough to get a hole-in-one – twice!
Harlen adored his family and frequently said, “Family is everything, cherish it.” You may have gone before us, but your legacy will live on for generations to come. All your dedication to family, and the love you instilled in us, will abide in our hearts forever.
A celebration of Harlen’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials preferred to Fisher Center Minnesota North Dakota Chapter Alzheimer's Association Alz.org/mnnd. Or donations of your choice. Condolences can be sent c/o of Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 SW Centennial Dr, Forest Lake – 55025.
