George John Richard
January 16, 1945 ~ July 19, 2023
Age 78, formerly of West St. Paul. Loving Husband, Dad & Grandpa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home in Forest Lake on July 19, 2023.
Preceded in death by parents, George daughter, Michelle Jirik; sister-in-law, Sue Ziemer. Survived by loving wife of 58 years, Sylvia; daughters, Jennifer (Tom Wilson), Amie; grandchildren, Samantha Kurz, George Kurz, Bella Mataczynski, Isaac Mataczynski, Luke Mataczynski, Jake Jirik, Callie Jirik; nieces, Tara Stanfield, Tracy Hedberg, nephews, Ian Hedberg, Andrew Wieland; brothers & sisters-in-law, Steve (Beth) Wieland, Sherry Canter, Blaine Wieland, Rick Jirik; other relatives & friends.
As an Army Veteran, George served his country with valor and honor. He retired from General Mills after a fulfilling career as a grain handler. George was a passionate and devoted supporter of the University of MN Golden Gophers as well as the Minnesota Twins. He enjoyed playing golf. In his younger years, he and his buddies loved playing pick-up football games at Macalester & Hamline Colleges. George hated cold weather with a passion. He had a deep love for music especially Motown, the Beatles & Rock-n-Roll. He will be dearly missed.
A celebration of George’s life 3 PM Friday, July 28th with visitation beginning at 2 PM at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake.
