Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, brother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 5, 2026.

Preceded in death by parents, Melvin & Ethelyn; brother-in-law, Dale Timmerman; nephew, Joe Hunt Jr.

Survived by wife of 48 years, Jo; children, Deb (Scott) Peterson, Tim Rabe, Jaimie Rabe; grandchildren, Marc (Taylor) Meyerhoff, Chantise (Joel) Whitlock; great-granddaughters, Ella & Lottie Whitlock; brother, John (Darnel); sister, Jean; brothers-in-law, Roger (Dee) Hunt, Jim Hunt; sister-in-law, Nancy Timmerman; nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Born in Waverly, Iowa Gary was a devoted husband to Jo for 48 years. He had a creative career as a commercial artist and also found great fulfillment on the road driving trucks. Outside of work, Gary enjoyed fishing and tinkering with CB radios. Above all, his faith and his family were the most important aspects of his life.

A celebration gathering of Gary’s life will be held from 10 AM – 1:30 PM with a prayer service at 11:30 AM Saturday, May 2^nd at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. Memorials are preferred to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
