Elly L. Olson

June 27, 1987 ~ January 30, 2023
Age 35 of Oakdale, formally of Wyoming, MN. Loving mother, daughter, sister, wife, passed away unexpectedly on January 30, 2023. Preceded in death by mother, Kathy; sister Crystal; grandparents, Gerald & Marilyn Olson, Leonard Baltes. Survived by son, Leo; husband, Drew Petersen; step-daughters, Trinity, Ariel; father, Steve (Denise); sisters, Lainie (B.J.), Erin (Jesse); grandmother, Helen Baltes; four nieces, one nephew, other relatives and many friends.
Elly was a light-hearted and wonderful person who brought happiness and joy to all those around her. She was a dedicated and loyal partner in all aspects of her life and although she was more quiet and reserved, her quick wit and infectious smile could win anyone over. But she loved her twin sister Erin most of all. That is until little Leo came along. Elly would brag that her greatest achievement was her son Leo and she loved bringing him to hang out with Erin. She loved being Leo’s mom more than anything in the world and was proud of it. As soon as he was born, he quickly became the driving force behind all the positivity in her life. She was also passionate about her career as a pharmacy technician and really enjoyed going to work. Her favorite place to go was her parents’ house, especially over Fourth of July and spending time on their lake. Being around her family, sisters, and friends playing “silly yard games” as she put it, always brought her joy.
A celebration of Elly‘s life will take place at 6:30 PM on Thursday, February 9th, with visitation beginning at 4 PM at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family for the benefit of her son, Leo. Donations can be made here: https://gofund.me/f6337d24

Elly I remember when you were born and how much love you & your Erin brought to your family. I loved playing with you and trying to figure out how to tell you two apart. Olson family-I’m so incredibly sorry. ❤️
May her kindness continue through Leo and the rest of the family.
Q: What will you never forget about Elly?
A: So we met a couple times before Gopher State since I know her sister erin and the first time I like really really met her was that gopher state and I was having lots of anxiety and too scared to go up to different places and get the food that they were offering and she just learned the way like there was no problem with she was so fierce and just so amazing she was just so Fierce and had an easy time talking to people
Elly will raise up on eagles’ wings, and shine like the sun as she is held in all of our memories and hearts.
I’ve come here every day since this was created, read the posts, and tried to write something, but it’s just been too hard. I can’t seem to put down in words how much you meant to me and how much I loved you; how much we all loved you. You were everything to our “weird little family.” Now there’s a giant hole in my heart where you used to be and I have never felt more alone. You were an angel amongst us. The most beautiful person in the entire world; always making everything brighter with your presence.
Leo misses his mommy. Trinity and Ariel miss their step-mom and closest friend. I miss my little Ell-Bell. Even Luna misses you. (I know cause Leo tells me.) You are so incredibly missed each day. I love you with my entire soul as you know I’m yours immortally. Please watch over us and give us your guidance, as we are lost without you. I love you Elly.
To the Olson Familywith heartfelt condolences,
With love and caring thoughts during these difficult days. Sending you lots of hugs and prayers.
Sending, love, hugs and prayers to you all during this difficult time.
Thinking about you, caring about you, wishing you peace and strength.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Elly it was a pleasure to have met you and worked with you for many years at rainbow foods. Such a hard worker. Always was excited to be working with you for the day together. You were fun to hangout with out of work. Such a beautiful smile that would light up a room. I said you have such nice teeth. You told me you always liked your teeth clean like you said “I dont like the fuzzy feeling of them being dirty.”
Love you Elly
In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe Page has been set up for Elly’s family – https://gofund.me/702704ef
We are honoring Elly’s beautiful smile and will carry on with her story in her beautiful boy Leo.
Silly little songs, cute little smiles all over the pharmacy, your contagious laughter, how you would dye your hair for Halloween and go all out for all events… Who will I call during summer time to go swimming with? Who will I call to hang out at the mall, or the pumpkin patch every year… my dear Elly. I’m blessed to have met such a friend like you in this lifetime. I know that every smile I see on a bottle is a little message from you. May you rest in peace.
Q: What will you never forget about Elly?
A: I’ll never forget talking to you after school almost every day (until your evil twin sister would kick you off the computer!). You’d typically greet me with an “Ello poppet!”. I won’t forget the first time I met you, or the last.
You were kind, funny, and beautiful. You made me a better person. For 20 years, talking to you made any day better.
I love you Elly, and I will miss you dearly.
Not one single day has gone by without me thinking about you. I miss you so incredibly much Elly. I wish things were different; I wish you were still with us. I love you Ellbell. ❤️
