Age 78 of East Bethel. Loving Mom, Nana, Aunt & Friend to many passed away peacefully surrounded by family and her beloved dog, Laulaa Kitty on May 2, 2022. Betty was born in Biwabik, MN, raised in Palo, MN and graduated from Aurora Hoyt Lakes High School. She attended Eveleth Junior College and in 1961 was named Miss Arrowhead. Following her time at Eveleth Junior College she moved to the Twin Cities. On July 4, 1966 she met Ken Lamppa whom she would be engaged to marry after their 3rd date. They had 41 years of love and laughter until Ken passed away in 2008. For the majority of her career, she worked at Control Data in Arden Hills. A five-time cancer survivor, Betty took up public speaking as an anti-smoking advocate after losing her vocal chords to cancer in 2000. She was the President of the Lost Chord Club, a laryngectomy support group out of St. Paul. Betty was the life of the party and enjoyed hosting family & friends often. She will be greatly missed and remembered for her positive attitude and incredible strength. Preceded in death by the love of her life, Ken; sister, Irene Reed. Survived by daughters, Kristin Lea (Dan) Lamppa and Karrie Lynn (Matt) Holz; grandchildren, Annikka Liisi and Maxwell Lamppa, William and Ryan Holz, Jeff Mateski; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. A celebration of Betty’s life 4 PM Thursday, May 19th with visitation one hour prior at Roberts Family Funeral Home. Private interment at Elim Cemetery, Scandia.
