Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Joleen, I am so sorry to hear about Doug. I remember way back when you put him at the top of your “list” and it actually happened! Doug was a good friend of mine back in the day when we were all young and running around Forest Lake. You have my deepest condolences. He was a great guy.

  2. Dear Joleen and family.
We are truly sorry for your loss. We loved Doug and being a neighbor. We have great memories on the boat, bonfires, summer happy hours on our decks, dinners, bingo, New Years Eve together. Much love and blessings as you move forward.

  3. I’m so sorry, Joleen, and deeply saddened to hear this very unfortunate news-only just today. I would have been at his memorial services had I known the sad news. I’m sorry I missed his services. Doug was my favorite cousin. He was so good and kind to me. He sort of took my best friend/brother Terry’s place when he was off to college. Doug and I had a lot of good times together and shared many “cousin” secrets with each other:) I adored his parents and siblings too. Mark was very close to my brother Tommy. I followed Mark’s athletic career-he was truly a gifted athlete. Unfortunately, I only saw & spoke with Doug at funerals in recent years, but I always felt our close connection and love for one another each time we saw one other regardless of the circumstances.
His beautiful eyes said it all. They truly were the window to his loving, compassionate, kind soul. What a blessing he was to everyone who knew and loved him-a fact that you, Joleen, and your family know very well. I’m so sorry for your great loss but hope you all find solace and comfort from the loving memories shared together throughout the years. I am thinking of, and praying for, all of you during this difficult, sad time. I, too am deeply saddened. But knowing Doug, he wouldn’t want us to grieve but to smile when we remember him and the amazing person he was! I was so blessed and grateful to have had him in my life. I’ve got many memories of him that warm my heart and soul.
God be with you all and bring you comfort, peace, AND joy.
Love, Doug’s cousin, Mary Moen Giel
