Dolores Fearing

November 20, 1930 ~ November 23, 2021

Age 91, died peacefully on November 23, 2021 in Rochester, Minnesota due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was born Dolores Margaret Kulhanek on November 20th, 1930 in St. Paul Minnesota. Dolores married Jerry Fearing July 12, 1952. With the birth of their first child in 1954 Dolores became a “stay at home mother,” eventually raising four children. In 1966 the Fearing family moved from St. Paul to Scandia, MN near the St Croix River. Eventually she returned to work for Wild River Outfitters in Marine on St Croix. She retired in 1998. She enjoyed traveling and made a number of visits to see her grandchild in West Linn, Oregon. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and relatives, and made a regular trip to the casinos in Laughlin with “the girls”! She had a natural ability to create outstanding flower arrangements, loved sewing and quilt making and put up with all the mess living with 4 kids and plenty of pets and farm animals brought along with it. We will miss her kindness, humor, wonderful desserts (!) and the countless snowy mornings talking around the kitchen table while enjoying hot tea, coffee or cocoa. Preceded in death by mother, Emma Margaret Kulhanek; father, Frank Kulhanek; sister, Evelyn Haskins. She is survived by husband, Jerry Fearing; daughters, Jodie Fearing, Vickie Haberman; sons, Scott Fearing, Mark Fearing; granddaughter, Lily Fearing. The Fearings welcome all friends and extended family to attend a memorial celebration on Thurs., Dec. 9th from Noon-3pm at DEGIDIO’S Restaurant, 425 7th Street W. St Paul. 3. Dee Fearing was a dear friend of the Tolzmann family, not only through her own daughters (with whom I attended high school) and with her sons (whose friendship came later through the high school theater department), but with her connection with the Twin Cities’ Laurel & Hardy club, the Block-Heads. Jerry helped found the club with fellow L&H buff and Saint Paul Pioneer Press employee Bill Diehl. Dee was at Jerry’s side throughout the early days of the club, often selling souvenirs as shown. Dee & Jerry continued to support the club by attending many Block-Heads anniversary events, and contributed donations to fundraising raffles and souvenir sales for the club’s charity fund. Until Dee & Jerry finally became grandparents, my kids, Elizabeth and Scott, were surrogate grandchildren for the Fearings and they loved them as if they were their own! We missed more-frequent visits with Dee & Jerry when they moved to the Rochester area, but they have been in our hearts all along. Our deepest condolences go to Jerry, Jodie, Vicki, Scott, and Mark & family as we all mourn the passing of such a wonderful lady!
