Denny D. Johnson

Age 81 of Forest Lake. Loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025.

Preceded in death by infant daughter, Deborah; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph & Phyllis; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth & Dusty Rhoades.

Survived by wife of 60 years, Judy; son, Dean (Cynthia); granddaughters, Delaney & Gracia; sister-in-law, Sylvia Sjoberg; brothers-in-law, Roger (Lisa) Lee, Mike (Karen) Lee; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Denny was born on June 3, 1944 in Owatonna, grew up on a farm in Lemond Township, and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1964. He married the love of his life, Judy, in 1965 and later raised his family in Forest Lake, where he was very active in the community and had a successful career at Control Data as a software engineer. Denny loved playing golf and was one of the “pioneers” in establishing the first Forest Lake area pickleball courts. He enjoyed being a devoted “Dance Grandpa” and was a dedicated Minnesota Vikings fan, holding season tickets since 1970. Denny and Judy eventually retired to Georgetown, Texas. Above all, his family was the most important thing to him, and his legacy will undoubtedly live on through them.

A celebration of Denny’s life will be held on their 60^th wedding anniversary, Thursday, September 11^th at Roberts Family Funeral Home, Forest Lake.  Visitation begins at 4 PM with the ceremony at 5:30 PM and a reception to follow. Memorials preferred to American Cancer Society.
