One of my favorite memories with Dave was scheming with Janet. We told Dave we went to the casino just days before Tad and I were closing on our house and I lost the $500 we needed for closing. He wrote me a check on the spot! (I returned it.)
Then there was the time Janet and Dave flew to Florida to surprise me for our birthday. The best birthday surprise ever! They were, indeed, partners in crime in that adventure! They remained so for almost 18 years. So blessed!
David was 10 years old when I left home. I remember spending hours playing catch so he could practice pitching baseball. We thought he could develop into a star pitcher some day. I guess it didn’t work out, but it was quality time spent together. He had a gift for hunting and fishing. I remember envying him when he would knock down nine out of ten pheasants on the wing. Dad had a black lab dog named Sparky. David hunted ducks with the pup and it took to retrieving ducks like a pro. Davids’ love for black lab dogs stayed with him, and through the years he went on to have two or three more labs. Get this!, all were named Sparky. Sparky One, Sparky Two, Sparky Three, and so on. David was always good with numbers HA! One spring when David was still small, our family went fishing for Bull Heads. We were fishing on a dock . David wasn’t catching fish, got bored and wandered off. Dad caught a nice size fish and put it on Davids’ line. When David came back he felt the fish on his line was thrilled to death. He fought the fish in and I guess caught fishing fever. We never did tell him how the fish got on. When David left home he followed my career and went to Austin Area Vocational for the Tool and Die Trade. He then moved his family to the Twin Cities. We worked together for McCourtney Plastics Molding Company for a couple years. Always fun when we got together talking Shop, Fishing, and Hunting. Rest in Peace David Love Darrell

October 2017, Dave and I took an amazing trip to Washington, D.C. We had a wonderful trip and talked about it for the last year. We saw so many things and had such a great time. So glad we got to take that one last trip. I will miss this man more than I can say. Love you Dave.
