Date of Birth: October 1, 1973 Date of Death: January 23, 2011 Suddenly January 23, 2011. Preceded in death by grandparents, Donald Hansen, Richard Underhill and Jan Harley. Survived by his wife, Rachel, daughters, Lydia and Ava; parents, Roger and Renee; brothers, Jeremy (Amy) and Eric (Britta Johanson); father and mother-in-law, Doug and Maureen Kiekhafer; sister-in-law, Jacquie (Dan) Undem; nieces, Alexandra Hansen and Eleanor Undem; grandparents, Robert Bud and Millie Lovdahl, Joan Hansen, Jim and Emilie Harley and Hazel Underhill; many relatives and friends. Chad is remembered as a very loving and caring husband, dad, son and brother. He was a man of multiple talents and a dedicated family man. Chad was a lifelong resident of Forest Lake and graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1992. He was employed at the American Red Cross where he worked in IT for more than eleven years and was a strong believer of blood donation and would ask others to continue in his tradition of donation. Jan. 27th at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Dr. SW, Forest Lake and continuing 9 AM -10 AM Fri., Jan 28th at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Friday, Jan. 28th at St. Peter Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Memorials preferred to Chads family.

  1. I just found out about his tragedy and am just shocked by the news. Chad was a great person and very helpful to me in my career path. I was an intern at the Red Cross for a year. I was Chad’s helper so to speak and was glad to have worked with such a great guy. He will be sorely missed. God Bless!

  7. You probably don’t know me – and that’s okay. I went to school with Chad and when I heard about the accident, I was compelled to show my support, if only as a number.

    I coordinate the class reunions for the Class of 1992. As it turns out, our class reunions are actually profitable, and so on behalf of the Class, we’d like to help by contributing funds towards a benefit or memorial when the time is right, per your wishes.

    My deepest sympathy to all of Chad’s family; his life-long family as well as his Rachel and their darling girls, and their loved ones. You will forever be in my heart and prayers. I’m so very sorry. Peace to you.

    Chad was a great co-worker and friend. although I only had the privlage to meet him once I did speak with him on a regular basis and he was always pleasent, funny, and willing to help out his counter parts in other parts of the Red Cross.
    Chad was a dedicated team meber and will be missed by all who new him.

  34. Chad was a trombone student in my bands in 1986 and a member of our 6th honor band that year. I remember him as a great young man with lots of goodness and talent. My sincere condolences to his entire family.
