Barbara Lynn Hughes

July 30, 1955 ~ August 23, 2025

Age 70 formerly of Centerville. Loving Sister & Favorite Aunt, passed away on August 23, 2025.

Barb was know for her smile, her laughter and her love of family. She made friends easily and enjoyed playing dice, card games and Scrabble . She would sing along, dance or just clap to the beat of the oldies music. She traveled a bit within the Midwest and spent some time on the west coast. She was generous and giving. She wore many hats, put people at ease and never wanted anyone to feel left out.

She graduated from Centennial High School where she was involved in band and O.E. (Tomorrow’s Secretaries). She worked from high school through retirement at the same company (Cardiac Pacemaker /Guidant/Boston Scientific). Her dedication at work was a bit surprising since as a child she would do her best to get out of her chores!

Preceded in death by parents, Orville & Beverly. Survived by siblings, Pamela (Greg) Meyer, Linda, Gordon, Jerome (Cindy), Curtis Hughes, Jennifer (Guy) Johnson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Barbara’s life will be celebrated with a gathering from 3-7 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd at Roberts Family Funeral Home Forest Lake. Private interment at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Hugo. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

  2. It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved resident. She was truly the light of every room she entered…..never one to miss out on an activity or a good conversation. Her warm smile and contagious laugh lifted spirits all around her, and she will be forever remembered as the one who always wore a flashy hat with pride and charm.

Her presence brought so much joy to our community, and while her absence will be deeply felt, her memory will continue to inspire us to live with the same joy and vibrancy she shared each day!!

  3. Just hearing about Barb now, my condolences to her family and friends. Barb was my co-worker at Cardiac Pacemakers/Guidant/Boston Scientific. I saw her every day. Always a smile and always happy. Made everyone who worked with her feel better by just her wonderful personality, humor and kindness. We all missed Barb when she left. God bless her soul, and peace and love to her family.

  4. I worked shoulder to shoulder with Barb for many years. She was one of the sweetest and most generous people I’ve known. My condolences to the family. Rest in peace friend.
