Adrian Joseph Franssen

Our dear Adrian “Romeo” passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, Mary on June 14, 2025, after a battle with lung cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Mary Ann; former wives’, Suzanne & Linda.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary; children, Brenda (Dave) Hewitt, Michelle (Bill) Shultz, Cristy LaVallie, Leah (Michael) Paulsen, Richard Wood; grandchildren, Charlene (Bill), Elizabeth, Alyssa, Isabelle, George, Benjamin, and Madeline; great grandson, Caydan; siblings, Barb (Dale) Johnson, Michael Franssen, Susie Vanyo; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Adrian was a simple man. A hardworking man. He started to get into the liquor business when he was 13 years old. Through the years, he took that knowledge and wisdom to a whole new level. It was a dear friend of his, Bob, who encouraged him. So, on April 1, 1994, he took the leap and bought a store – Scandia Olde Towne Liquor. He had a special gift, which included a palate and an aroma of the fruits, nuts, chocolate, just a few to point out when unveiling his wines. Let us not forget that natural charm with his customers.

Adrian loved the outdoors! He loved spending time on the lake, boating, swimming, and fishing. He enjoyed traveling, downhill skiing, hiking, and riding his e-bike around. He loved spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren. Through the years, he started to build a strong faith, with our dear Lord and Savior.

He had the gift of creating many friendships. He was one that you enjoyed being around. He loved life and his family. Adrian’s infectious smile will forever be engraved in our hearts.

Adrian’s life will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 15th at Rustic Roots Winery, Scandia. A gathering from 3-5 PM, ceremony at 5 PM and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Scandia Marine Lions and the Scandia Fire Department.
